The Memory Project traveled north to the Yukon on June 25, visiting its first Canadian territory, to document the unique stories of 11 Second World War veterans, including one Aboriginal veteran.
In Whitehorse, veterans gathered to talk about the experiences during the Second World War, and to share their stories for posterity. The Honourable Dennis Fentie, Premier of Yukon, as well as the Honourable Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon, joined The Memory Project to show their support for the initiative.
Among the many remarkable stories archived was that of Alex Van Bibber. After years of training, Mr. Van Bibber never saw the combat that he had much anticipated. He reflects thoughtfully on what the War meant to him from this unique perspective. Watch for his unique story, coming soon! Read more about this event in the Whitehorse Star
