Levis– June 5 - Local Second World War veterans gathered today at the Levis Armory to participate in a new nation-wide oral history project.
“We are thrilled to be in Levis to capture the experiences of veterans from this region, including those of the La Chaudière Regiment,” said Project Manager, Jenna Misener. “These voices represent an essential part of Canada’s military past, and we are proud to share them with Canadians everywhere.”
A program of the Historica-Dominion Institute, The Memory Project: Stories of the Second World War is creating an unprecedented record of Canada’s participation in the Second World War as seen through the eyes of thousands of men and women who were there. It provides every living Second World War veteran with the opportunity to preserve their memories through recorded interviews and digitized memorabilia. Their stories will be available, in both official languages, at www.thememoryproject.com.
The Memory Project: Stories of the Second World War is made possible by a contribution from the Government of Canada through the Celebrations and Commemorations Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
